WHAT (A) STYLING DIFFERENCE: With the GV80 already on the pedestal as an artful luxury SAV design, 2026 Genesis GV80 Coupe ventures into bolder territory. It retains most of the Kammback's stock nose, with diamond outline grille, lengthy beveled shoulder hood, and the signature tandem lateral directional lighting, duplicated aft of the front fenders.
A low front cowl to raked windshield is complemented by a more radically sloped roof, terminating in a unique body color split roof spoiler.
Flared fenders and rear quarter panels span the tall belt-line smooth barrel body, complemented by a clad lower cheat line crease and parabolic integrated rocker panel side spats. The prominent high kink D-pillar imparts a floating roof.
A concave liftgate lower-section, containing "Genesis" lettering, is flanked by tandem wrap-around stripe LED taillamps. Their amber directionals align with similar fender and front tandem blinkers. The lower rear fascia contains the beveled center license plate crater. A darkened lower rear valance hosts back-up lights and dual corner exhaust split diamond shaped housings.

2026 Genesis GV80 Coupe 3.5T e-SC Black AWD: tandem amber lighting, and dark accents define this luxurious swoopy ducktail SAV
GV80 Coupe Black unique styling elements:
♦ Matching tandem lateral directional / DRL lighting aligned fully around perimeter
♦ Chrome bands on lower front fascia, lower body skirting, rear bumper cover with reflectors.
WHY: How a stylish prestige crossover sport activity vehicle fills the void of the traditional performance coupe car.
WHEN: On-Sale (in the U.S.) since early 2021
WHERE: Genesis new vehicle dealers
WHERE MADE: Ulsan, South Korea
WHERE TO: Lockable 50:50 all-wheel drive torque split + 8.0" ground clearance means probably never getting stuck in accumulated air frozen H20 crystals.
HOW ROADWORTHY:
On paper, specifications of the 2026 GV80 Coupe supercharged V-6 are not to be sneezed at. The sounds and absence of vibration whisper turbine like, the better to amp up the listenable variable rumble enhancement. The eight-speed transmission is capable of smart kick-downs in Sport modes, though the drive mode dial is awkwardly placed at the far posterior side of the center console. Yet, this luxury mover would rather tour grandly than hustle hurriedly. Stepping into the long throttle pedal travel doesn't return any explosiveness, and, in normal operation, the transmission hunts a bit, not that fuel economy is bragging worthy. Might this flagship Genesis mid size SUV coupe be an example of refinement gone too far?
One week testing a GV80 Coupe doesn't seem to be sufficient to avoid confusing the center console forward remote media display rotary knob from the aft rotary transmission selector. So Genesis upped the consternation factor by locating a smaller drive mode / terrain mode twist & depress knob on the passenger side of the latter. Although, there are the artful alloy steering wheel dorsal shift paddles.
Weight is no sporting machine's friend. Just over two and a half GV80 Coupe tons is right up there with body on frame mid-size 4x4 pickup trucks. The Genesis flagship SAV shines on the boulevard, quite apt at doing placid creamy. The five link suspension at the four corners has tamed the imposing 22" wheels and 40 series rubber so that low frequency bumps don't reverberate and high frequency surface stuff is muted.
That tautly muted feel on surface roads, however, doesn't translate well on hustling highways. That's where the nicely returning variable rate steering has been frustrated by too much Novocaine. High speed attitude changes throw in some nose dive & rear end lift, resulting in a duller turn in than expected. Those impressively sized brake rotors, with black monobloc clamping, scrub off speed with linearity. Driver selectable sport braking proves to be too abrupt around town.
HOW FAR: 22 combined miles per gallon observed fuel economy; 450 miles highway range.
HOW BIG/ LITTLE: Firmly a larger mid-size crossover. the 2026 Genesis GV80 Coupe e-SC is fractionally longer & lower in height than the standard GV80. Nominal cargo bay space clearly suffers by 16%, but 2nd Row occupants are spoiled with split power pitch & recline seating.

2026 Genesis GV80 Coupe 3.5T e-SC Black AWD: quilted Nappa leather seating, power adjusting 2nd Row split seat pitch, recline, microsuede headliner & upper pillars, open pore ash wood accents

HOW PEOPLE FRIENDLY: Of late, Genesis has nailed the prestige cabin target, blending traditional parlor luxury appointments with low clutter, rather intelligible convenience tech. As a flagship model, the GV80 Coupe e-SC includes the lacks-for-little Sport Prestige kit. Satin aluminum switch clusters and vent dampers, stainless steel speaker housings, open pore woodgrain panels, smooth damped storage apertures, compartment mouse-fur linings, glove matte quilted leathers, Alcantara sueded pillars & headliner, double tandem stitched tucked seams upper dash leatherette and other padded panels and glove satin hides are Waldorf suite worthy.
As a beneficiary of the standard model's 2025 mid-cycle update, the non-floating center stack and traditional "T" spoke steering wheel with haptic smooth panel controls, and the slightly concave 27" OLED unified instrument and media display panel are featured in the 2026 GV80 Coupe e-SC. A center console rotary dial transmission selector located so close to the rotary remote infotainment dial remains frustrating. Fortunately, the media display can be tapped or voice commanded. Proving that old tricks sometimes work best, there are traditional twin rotary knob audio volume and tuning dials on the center stack.
